Looking to improve your body knowledge? Here's content that will improve your understanding and practice of mind body methods.

Want to improve your body knowledge? First connect to your mind.

It’s easier than you think. You can start to feel a difference in five minutes. But it has to be a special kind of five minutes. It has to be five minutes which facilitates the conditions for kinesthetic learning.

Kinesthetic learning is not what you would normally think of as exercise. It is inherently experiential. But more than that, it is learning that helps guide not only your movement, but also your awareness of how you move, think, sense, and feel. These processes serve different purposes. You:

  • MOVE when you want to take action, find expression, create, or do something extraordinary.

  • THINK when you want to organize your thinking in mind and body.

  • SENSE when you want to focus on self-awareness and experience how that can lead to positive change.

  • FEEL when you want to let go and trust your intuition.

The intersection of these body and mind processes lies at the very heart of your ability to learn, grow, and heal. When you approach movement and learning from this perspective, you will trigger the brain’s ability to change (sometimes called neuroplasticity)—thereby helping you to achieve a more comfortable, healthy, and efficient use of your body.

I’m Andrea Higgins, director and founder of Kinesthetic Edge. I have worked in the mind-body field for over twenty years. I have studied many mind-body methods, but my area of focus is somatic education—particularly the Feldenkrais Method® of movement and learning.

The best way to understand, really understand, how somatic-based learning can improve your body knowledge and enhance your life is to experience it for yourself. Sign up for my newsletter today and start your journey with a free five-minute movement meditation that will quiet your mind and body. Over time, I will send you curated content to help deepen your understanding and practice.
